The American Memory Project has released 21 short, animated films, and 2 fragments from 1900-1921 (available in RealMedia, MPEG, and QuickTime formats). The bibliographic records are browsable by title, subject, or date as well as searchable by keyword. "The films include clay, puppet, and cut-out animation, as well as pen drawings." Be sure to read the Notes on the Origins of American Animation. The essay explains the history of each film in the collection, plus a general history of early animation.
