:The Center for Theoretical Biological Physics (CTBP)Link: http://ctbp.ucsd.edu/ combines the intellectual resources of the University of California, San Diego, Division of Physical Sciences, the San Diego Supercomputer Center, The Scripps Research Institute and The Salk Institute for Biological Studies. It brings together theoreticians and experimentalists from around the world to advance research, using the theoretical tools of physics to understand the fundamental principles governing complex biological systems. This interdisciplinary approach--carried out jointly by physicists, chemists, mathematicians, and biologists--not only provides biologists with a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms governing complex biological systems, such as networks of neurons or biochemical pathways in the assembly of proteins, but also allows physicists to develop new principles and models for complex systems based on biological phenomena. CTBP is producing a series of online and CD-ROM based interactive learning resources designed to instruct and provide insight into the research and knowledge at the forefront of the biology-physics interface. These resources engage K-12 students and provide teacher curriculum and methods to use in the classroom and at home.Relation:Contact:Kim Baldridge, kimb@sdsc.edu, Jason Wiskerchen, jwiskerc@sdsc.edu This resource is cataloged under:
