The Visual History of Red Cloud and companion exhibit resourcesLink: http://www.nmnh.si.edu/anthro/redcloud Red Cloud's Manikin and His Uncle's Shirt: Historical Representation in the Museum as Seen Through Photo Analysis This is an anthropology site. This exhibit by anthropologist Joanna C. Scherer with Vicki Simon examines photographs of early manikins representing Plains Indians in the Smithsonian Institution during the 1870s. Exhibit at the National Museum of Natural History, Constitution Ave. lobby through July 15, 2003. In conjunction with the exhibit is a 4 min. slide show on by Frank H. Goodyear, III, Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery and Joanna C. Scherer based on Frank’s book titled Red Cloud: Photographs of a Lakota Chief, U. of Nebraska Press (Fall 2003).
