Teaching Tolerance.orgLink: http://www.teachingtolerance.org Founded in 1991 by the Southern Poverty Law Center, Teaching Tolerance supports the efforts of K-12 teachers and other educators to promote respect for differences and appreciation of diversity.Teaching Tolerance serves as a clearinghouse of information about anti-bias programs and activities being implemented in schools across the country. The ideas presented on this Web site and in our semiannual magazine, Teaching Tolerance, represent some of the most innovative, useful initiatives we've found to date. We are interested in learning about your efforts, too, and encourage you to Share Your Ideas.Teaching Tolerance also produces and distributes free, high-quality anti-bias materials. We recognize that budgetary and time constraints often limit the ability of educators to create original anti-bias curricula. We develop resources that speak to various academic subject areas and grade levels, because tolerance education is the responsibility of every teacher. We encourage you to Expand Your Resources.Online, Teaching Tolerance shares space with another Center program, Tolerance.org, a Web-based initiative encourages people from all walks of life to "fight hate and promote tolerance."Schools are not islands unto themselves, but rather exist within the larger community. take advantage of the materials that Tolerance.org offers, too.
